This is a dental specialty in charge of the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the supporting tissues of the tooth. The 2 main pathologies are gingivitis and periodontitis.
Gingivitis
Gingivitis is caused due to the accumulation of plaque around the tooth. The consequence is the inflammation of the gum and therefore the bleeding of it. The gingivitis only affects the soft tissues around the tooth, not the bone. The gingivitis is an earlier stage of periodontitis.
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is a continuity of a gingivitis if it is not treated in time. When plaque is not removed in time, it can accumulate under the gum at sub gingival level. It can become a chronic disease that affects no only the gum but also the bone beneath. This can lead from partial to total loss of the supporting bone of the teeth. This loss of support can also affect dental implants.

Prevention
We teach all our patients how to use a toothbrush, inter proximal brushes, floss, tongue cleaner, etc. effectively to correct and improve their oral health. Also, we give them this information digitally so that they can access it at any time.
